Writer | Journalist | Educator
From the vibrant landscapes of Belize to the bustling newsrooms of journalism, from the written page to the college classroom — my journey has been one of storytelling in all its forms.
I am part of the Heusner family, whose roots run deep in Belizean history, tracing back to German immigrant ancestors in the 1800s. Our family name graces the national hospital — a testament to our commitment to serving the Belizean community across generations.
My career in journalism began at The Reporter, Belize's major newspaper, where I served as News Editor, shaping stories that mattered to our nation. I later worked as a reporter for News Five / Channel 5 Belize, covering everything from aviation incidents to cultural celebrations, always seeking to capture the essence of Belizean life.
The written word has always been my passion, leading me to author "Food For Thought: Chronicles of Belize" — a collection of witty, informative essays that explore the heart and soul of Belizean culture. Each piece reflects my love for storytelling and my deep connection to the country that shaped me.
With a Master's degree in English, I now channel my passion for language and literature as an Adjunct English Instructor at Miami Dade College, nurturing the next generation of writers and thinkers. Though I'm currently based in the Houston, Texas area, Belize remains forever in my heart and in my writing.
A captivating collection of essays that offer both wit and wisdom about Belizean life and culture. Through personal observations and cultural insights, these chronicles paint a vivid picture of a nation and its people, told with the authentic voice of someone who understands Belize from the inside out.

Reporter
My work as a television reporter took me across Belize, covering diverse stories that ranged from aviation incidents to cultural celebrations. I had the privilege of documenting dance companies, covering national events, and bringing important stories to Belizean audiences through broadcast journalism.
Adjunct English Instructor
With my Master's degree in English, I bring both academic expertise and real-world writing experience to the classroom. Teaching allows me to share my passion for the written word while helping students develop their own voices and critical thinking skills. There's nothing quite like witnessing that moment when a student discovers the power of their own expression.
I welcome opportunities for collaboration, speaking engagements, or simply connecting with fellow writers and educators.
